Disney and ABC Television donates money to Hurricane Sandy Foundation

The CEO chairman of Walt Disney, Robert A. Iger, donates $2 Million to the Hurricane Sandy foundation. He donated money so they can rebuild it. Disney and ABC have made a date where you can donate money so it can go to Hurricane Sandy. The date is November 5, 2012 and is called the "Day of Giving". They decided to make this happen because they notice that their friends, family and millions of people in the North East effected them. This will be an all day thing. They expect 10 million viewers to watch this. ABC News anchors will be encouraging people to donate to American Red Cross. The show "Dancing With The Stars" will talk about the "Day of Giving". On Monday Night Football they will mention the "Day of Giving". Most channels will be talking about it because it impacted many people and they need donations to get back on their feet.
This article is important because it talks about how Disney and ABC donates money to devastating weather catastrophe. This article caught my attention because I have never heard of a television group that has donated money to a weather disaster. This impacts me as a student because it lets me know that I can donate money to the Hurricane Sandy donation. This impacts me as a future film maker because it lets me know that I can start a donation foundation to go to a good cause. The article impacts me as a consumer because it tells me that I can donate money or buy things that can go towards that cause just like how they have breast cancer products that go toward the research of breast cancer. Some questions that this article builds are "Will another television group make another foundation?" , "Will celebrities donate a big amount of money to the donation?" , "How will the Day of Giving turn out?

  1. This is awesome. :) Happy that people are reaching out to the unfortunate in New York! Though I still don't understand how they're actually helping by singing to people...

  2. I did a similar article to yours and i have the same questions as you. Especially the one about if other television groups will donate. I think there are a lot more organizations that can help also, i hope they realize it.
