Warner Bros & Paramount

Warner Bros & Paramount talk about the media distribution deal. They have a strategic alliance with more than 600 catalog titles from the Paramount library. This deal allows Warner Bros to DVD and Blu-ray distribution and allow Paramount's UltraViolet offering available on a non exclusive basis through Flixster and the Warner Bros. movie streaming and discovery service. Warner Bros also want to add UltraViolet Digital Copies with the package media. The deal starts working in January 1,2013. Not all of the Paramount movies will be included in the deal. In fact a 100 corner stones wont be in the deal. Warner will get the chance to select new titles after the first 26 weeks release period.
This article is important to me because I watch the movies of these two studios. It caught my attention because i saw that they were announcing their deal. The impact on this article as a student and a future film maker is that they will teach you that you can work with different companies. When you go into the film industries you might have to make deals like this. If you do will have an idea based on the result of this deal between Warner Bros & Paramount. The impact on this article as a consumer is that the movies you watch might be different and the movie that you buy might be changed. Will this deal impact other industries? How will this deal turnout?

  1. It seems like a lot of movie studios are starting to join forces. It's starting to make me wonder if the film industry is getting more competitive. I thought the Warner Bros. and Paramount were already successful studios on their own. Then again, I guess it's all about the business and money.

  2. I agree with Patricia, maybe these studios are joining together to made more money. I also thought they both had their own individual success. It should be interesting to see what they come up with. I'm sure other industries will team up as well.
